Cloudflare K2 Builds Event Streams on R2 Object Storage, at a Second of Produce Latency

Cloudflare has launched K2 in public beta, a serverless event streaming service implementing a durable log on R2 object storage. Cloudflare states produce latency of about one second at p99; a tester reported end-to-end p99 of 7.5 seconds, which a commenter answering for the team said was higher than expected. Consume charges match produce charges per GB.

Microsoft has made Azure Container Apps Express generally available alongside Container Apps Sandboxes, the microVM compute layer it runs on. Express skips environment provisioning and scales to zero, with subsecond startup from prewarmed pools. Custom domains, zone redundancy, Key Vault references, OpenTelemetry and Dapr are not supported.

Python Workers Reach GA on Cloudflare, with Questions about Cold Starts and Upstream Maintenance

Cloudflare has made Python Workers generally available, built on PEP 783 and on socket syscalls implemented over the Workers connect API. The announcement carries no performance figures. A urllib3 maintainer questioned who supports the upstream work afterwards, and Wasmer's founder asked for cold-start numbers, citing about 1.027 seconds from Cloudflare's own earlier post.
